On the psychedelic aesthetic…
Psychedelia was an artistic movement from the 1970s and 1980s linked to the hippie lifestyle. Its aim was to alter the perception of the senses through the use of multiple colors and their combination.
On the interior design of the 1980s…
The so-called “modern design” inherited aspects of art deco and pop art to find its own style. If excesses were the norm in fashion, so were they in decoration. The 80s were characterised by the group Memphis and Laura Ashley, glass block walls and wallpaper. There were some minimalist 80s in terracotta tones and others in black and white. There were some 80s in primary colours and others in pastel shades. The 80s were eclectic and therefore contemporary: applied in the right way, any gesture could be a success.
